The SN65HVD233 is used as a CAN transceiver, each device provides transmission and reception functions between the differential CAN bus and the CAN controller, and the signaling speed is up to 1Mbps. Designed to operate in particularly harsh environments, the device features cross-line protection, overvoltage protection up to ±36V, ground-fault protection, overtemperature (thermal shutdown) protection, and common-mode transient protection to ±100V. These devices operate over a wide common-mode range of –7V to 12V. These transceivers are the interface between the host CAN controller on the microprocessor and the differential CAN bus used in industrial, building automation, transportation and automotive applications.
